Sweetgum – Liquidambar styraciflua

Deciduous tree with Maple like leaves. Drops prickly balls about the size of a quarter.

Sawara cypress – Chamaecyparis pisifera

Large tree native to Japan used for timber, but smaller cultivars are used as ornamental shrubs in temperate climates. Evergreen, much-branched sprays of small scale-like leaves. Yellow/green.

Japanese Zelkova – Zelkova serrata

Medium-sized deciduous tree. Short trunk dividing into many upright and erect spreading stems forming a broad, round-topped head. Leaves simple and ovate to oblong-ovate with serrated or crenate margins

Chinese Tallowtree – Triadica sebifera

Invasive. Deciduous. Heart shaped leaves. Flowers are greenish-yellow inflorescences up to 20 cm long.

Star Magnolia – Magnolia stellata

Shrub/small tree grows 5-8 ft tall, 15 ft wide. Showy white or pink flowers. Early bloom. Oblong leaves.
